Condrieu is a very up-market drop normally reserved for the world's stupidly rich - it's ridiculously expensive. If that kind of profligacy is a badge of honour, then you won't be interested in the bargain that Parey Dumont represents. They are both made from the super-aromatic Viognier and both planted in limestone-rich soils that promote very high quality white wine production. But only the Dumont is where the smart money goes. It has delightful aromatics and a peach and apricot stone palate to die for.

This commission is a glorious melange. We asked 11-times SA Champion winemaker, Nico Vermeulen, to come up with a rich, elegant take on the best whites from the Southern Rhōne. His intuition led him to create a wine that was both fresh and vibrant (cool climate) and richly fruited (warm climate). Luckily, he knew exactly the right growers from the boutique hot-spots of Elim (cool) and Elgin (warm and sunny). Only this rare combination allowed him to sort out the balance he needed.

Condrieu is a very up-market drop normally reserved for the world's stupidly rich - it's ridiculously expensive. If that kind of profligacy is a badge of honour, then you won't be interested in the bargain that Parey Dumont represents. They are both made from the super-aromatic Viognier and both planted in limestone-rich soils that promote very high quality white wine production. But only the Dumont is where the smart money goes. It has delightful aromatics and a peach and apricot stone palate to die for.

Condrieu is a very up-market drop normally reserved for the world's stupidly rich - it's ridiculously expensive. If that kind of profligacy is a badge of honour, then you won't be interested in the bargain that Parey Dumont represents. They are both made from the super-aromatic Viognier and both planted in limestone-rich soils that promote very high quality white wine production. But only the Dumont is where the smart money goes. It has delightful aromatics and a peach and apricot stone palate to die for.

There are few vineyards like this left in South Australia, and so releasing wine from these vines is something quite rare. Being so well established, the vines give a very natural balance to the crop, meaning that minimal intervention if possible in the winery, another rare phenomenon in cellars Down Under.

Since we were exposed to the delights of the 2009 Zinio, we begged for a smaller, more succulent part of the El Secreto vineyard to be vinified. We bring you the 'Seleccionada'. A delightful concoction making the very best of the 2010 vintage, itself a lovely occurrence. This wine is 100% Garnacha, which is a great thing as the 2010 vintage eclipsed even the wonderful 2009 for this grape. So you get a pure, unadulterated hit of fleshy, seductive and entirely lovely raspberry fruit. Bravo Marķa!

This wine was crafted from dry-grown, old vine stock, vines that have both venerable old age and a spectacular setting in which to perfect their tiny, sweet globes of flavour. There are few vineyards like this left in South Australia, and so releasing wine from these vines is something quite rare. Being so well established, the vines give a very natural balance to the crop, meaning that minimal intervention if possible in the winery, another rare phenomenon in cellars Down Under.

Grown in vineyards in much more moderate temperatures than the scorching areas of Cape Town, this Pinot Noir benefits from longer ripening, more flavour, more depth and ultimately more class. Nico's handiwork has resulted in a delicious wine which presents an array of red berry flavours with hints of vanilla. This refined unconventional light red tipple is just perfect now that game is back in season or perhaps with a vegetarian friendly mushroom risotto. Either way it is sure to delight your tastebuds.

Since we were exposed to the delights of the 2009 Zinio, we begged for a smaller, more succulent part of the El Secreto vineyard to be vinified. We bring you the 'Seleccionada'. A delightful concoction making the very best of the 2010 vintage, itself a lovely occurrence. This wine is 100% Garnacha, which is a great thing as the 2010 vintage eclipsed even the wonderful 2009 for this grape. So you get a pure, unadulterated hit of fleshy, seductive and entirely lovely raspberry fruit. Bravo Marķa!
